Oh for god's sake people... this was precisely how this was supposed to happen. First you create the controversial ad. Then you leak it to the media. A firestorm ensues, complete with the ad running for free on an endless loop on TV stations across the land. Having gotten your message out for free, your candidate then condemns the ad, demanding that it never be aired. After a day or two, the offending organization relents, and the candidate declares victory!
This is how the Willie Horton ad was turned into a national issue. It is how the Swift Boat ad dominated the nation news. And this year, it is precisely how McCain will run all of his negative advertisements. They keep calling the same play because it works. So long as the media is willing to play along with this bullshit, there is only so much that the candidate being attacked can do.
They don't even try to hide it anymore, either. Why bother? The elite media have shown no inclination whatsoever to tell the public the truth about what is going on. Remember, McCain is "an honorable man" who can do no wrong. Never mind the actions of his campaign. They have peered into his soul and seen "the truth."
God I hate our elite media. I really do.
