Elitist?

Here's McCain latest take on Obama's statements on voters anger and bitterness:

"Oh I don't know, I think those comments are elitist," McCain said. "I think that anybody who disparages people, who are hardworking, honest, dedicated people who have cherished the second amendment and the right to hunt and the right to observe that and their values and their culture that they value and they've grown up with and sometimes in the case of generations and saying that's because they're unhappy with their economic conditions, I think that's a fundamental contradiction of what I believe America's all about, that I tried to describe in my remarks."

Here's the problem with elites - and if McCain and Clinton aren't elites than who is? - proclaiming their outrage on behalf of average hard-working Americans: if they are going to go high-profile, they better be right. Because nothing is more elitist and condescending that having elites lecture one another about outrage that average people aren't actually feeling.

We'll know one way or the other tomorrow when the new Q-Poll comes out. Until then, Obama is holding strong in the Gallup dailies.
