From former Sen. Chafee's new book, here's an interesting take on the days immediately following the 200 campaign:
Hearing Cheney say "the campaign was over and that our actions in office would not be dictated by what had to be said in the campaign," Chafee writes, was "the most demoralizing moment of my seven-year tenure in the Senate."
I'll give Cheney credit for this: at least he is consistent. Nothing matters but the will of the elites. The people must be placated every four years through the show that is our electoral process, but no more.
