Bits and Bobs

Before getting to today's news, some catch-up:

+ I had meant to post this on Memorial Day, but events got the better of me and I forgot. Having just now watched it again, I'm more than a little embarrassed. The video was created by Washington Monthly's publisher, Markos Kounalakis, to honor last year's holiday, and is an adaptation of Mark Twain's "War Prayer," a poem so controversial that he asked that it not be published until after his death.

+ An Andrew Sullivan reader asks what may be the most important question in the whole Florida-Michigan mess: Why is it that the Democrats who played by the rules are now to be punished?

+ Wonderful. Some Marines in Iraq have decided to use their time their to convert the Iraqis to Christianity. While on duty and in uniform. Just wonderful.

+ Obama has promised to tackle health care in his first 100 days in office. Combined with his previous pledges to send a "signal to the world" on energy and climate change, and a review of every single executive order issued under the Bush administration, you've got one hell of an agenda.
