Disenfranchisement

In preparation for todays meeting of the DNC's Rules + Bylaws Committee, Josh Marshall is asking all the right questions. To hear the Clinton campaign tell it, the only concern here is making sure that the votes that were cast are counted. The problem, of course, is that because it was announced in advance that the vote would not count, plenty of people who would have otherwise participated did the rational thing and stayed home. And there's no rule change, no matter how clever, that can now account for them. It's impossible, in short, to re-enfranchise the voters in Florida and Michigan in any meaningful way.

I have no doubt that the Clinton campaign recognizes this - how could they not? - but since it doesn't help their lost cause, they are pretending not to. Wonderful, no?

UPDATE: Much more from Eric Kleefeld here.
